You can test for Freon leaks using a UV light source. The refrigerant in your air conditioner has an oil lubricant mixed in. When the oil lubricant leaks out, it radiates UV light. To conduct this test, shade the area to be tested and shine a UV light source on it—if fluorescent marks appear, it means the unit is leaking Freon. Pressure Test

In this test, the refrigerant tube is filled with nitrogen, the system is pressurized, and the technician monitors for a drop in pressure over a period of several hours. If the pressure begins to rise, it means there is a leak in the system.
